Try Vegetarian Slow Cooking This Winter

Every year we enjoy the warmth of summer, but all too soon autumn and winter are lurking, the temperatures are dropping, the nights are drawing in and we start to crave something warm and filling for our meals that makes us feel comforted.

Vegetarian slow cooking is a great way to prepare some wonderful meals that do not need to be high in fat, and undo our summer dieting, but can give us the same feeling of a hug on plate that we all crave when the wind is howling outside.

Meals prepared for vegetarian slow cooking can be put together the night before they are needed and left in the slow cooker while you are out at work, or at home looking after small children, they do not need lots of tending and can be safely left.

Soups, Stews, Broths And More.

The sort of food we crave in the winter needs to leave us feeling warmer inside, and soups and stews are great for this. Discover the ease in which you can prepare a nutritious family meal using vegetarian slow cooking, and free yourself from the nightly chore of standing preparing food that needs a lot of tending.

Vegetarian food also has the advantage of being cheap when compared to some of the cuts of meat on offer, so it means you can save money as well as cutting down on the amount of fat you feed your family a double bonus. Have a look around your supermarket, as many vegetables that have been reduced to clear are great for vegetarian slow cooking recipes

Vegetarian slow cooking is simply a case of preparing the vegetables and adding what ever flavours or sauces you desire, from curries to Italian tomato sauces, all the family favourite meals can be made into vegetarian alternatives that taste fantastic.

If you do not have a slow cooker, you can still experiment with vegetarian slow cooking, by simply cooking at low temperatures for longer, either in saucepans on the hob, or in ceramic dishes in the oven, this method means you will need to be in the house, certainly for the hob cooking, but still makes for an easier hassle free meal.

Which method of vegetarian slow cooking you choose will depend on what meal you are preparing, and there are different meat substitutes available to keep the meals familiar. For example Soya can be used in place of minced beef in spaghetti bolognaise and prepared in a slow cooker, most children don t even notice the swap!
